Chesterton Church of England Primary School is a thriving village school located close to Bicester with just over 200 pupils on roll. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, talented and flexible Teaching Assistants to join our friendly team to start in January 2026.

The Teaching Assistant role will involve providing support for pupils through a combination of one-to-one, small group and class support.

We can offer the successful candidate a positive working environment to start or continue their career in education, including:

- a friendly and supportive staff team

- caring and well-behaved children

- opportunities for continued professional development, including regular in-school training

- bright and welcoming classrooms and an inspiring outdoor space

- term-time only working

- access to a range of health and wellbeing services through the school’s insurance provider

- the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme

We are asking for candidates with flexibility to support our wrap-around provision on some of their contracted days.  Our Breakfast Club runs from 7.30am every morning, and our after-school club runs until 5.45pm.  This would be paid as an additional contract at a higher rate. Candidates are not expected to work all ‘sessions’ at wrap-around care, but we have some key gaps that we need to cover.

Experience in similar roles would be an advantage, although training and development will be available for the right candidate.

Chesterton Church of England Primary School promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

We would strongly encourage visits to the school to discuss the roles in person and see our school in action. If you would like to do this, please contact us on 01869 252498 or email office.3082@chesterton.oxon.sch.uk to arrange a convenient time to meet the Headteacher, Mr Iain Horner.

Please see the school website for the job description, person specification and other relevant documents.  Please note applications must be submitted on the application form: we are unable to accept CVs as part of the application process.  To apply, please send your completed application form to the school office: office.3082@chesterton.oxon.sch.uk

Closing Date: Thursday 15th January 2026 (12.00pm)

Provisional Interview Date: Monday 19th January 2026
