1:1 Teaching Assistant

 Job / Person Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic One to One Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for a child with complex additional needs. You will be joining a dedicated and friendly team who have the children’s best interests at the heart of everything they do. Support and training will be provided but experience of working with high-level SEN is essential.

We require someone who is:

  • an excellent communicator
  • a good team player
  • flexible and responds to needs as they arise
  • passionate for working with children
  • keen to extend their own learning
  • willing to undertake specific educational and medical training 
  • patient

The successful candidate will:

  • Work within a team of committed TAs 
  • Support a pupil in accessing their individualised curriculum
  • Have a good understanding of literacy and numeracy skills (at least GCSE A-C or equivalent)
  • Have a good understanding of how children develop and learn
  • Be willing to undertake First Aid training

Specific aspects of the role:

  • Supporting with mobility, ensuring a safe environment to navigate but also supporting with mobility equipment including a wheelchair, support chair, and walker. Supporting with physio exercises to build muscle strength and support mobility
  • Supporting with personal care needs including toileting
  • Supporting with medical needs including observation while eating and drinking in line with recommendations in preventing aspiration
  • Supporting with daily routines - verbal promoting and reminding of what is now and next
  • Supporting with the delivery of learning objectives as outlined in the EHCP, using resources to support this including ICT 
  • Supporting with social interactions with peers promoting inclusion and building positive relationships

 We will:

  • Be supportive and welcoming 
  • Provide training
