Whitchurch Primary School is a small school with a big reputation — recently named among the top 10 primary schools in the UK by the Telegraph. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Whitchurch is a non-denominational community school of around 140 pupils where every child is known, every relationship matters, and every decision is felt.
Following the retirement of our Headteacher, we are seeking an exceptional leader who will honour what makes Whitchurch special and lead us confidently into our next chapter.
The role
This is a hands-on, visible headship where leadership is felt daily — in the classroom, the corridor, and the community. You will combine strategic vision with genuine presence, working alongside a committed team and building the kind of trust with pupils, staff and parents that only comes from real relationship.
We are looking for someone who
- Has successful senior leadership experience in a primary school
- Has a demonstrable track record of improving teaching and sustaining high standards
- Leads with the values of Excellence, Courage and Respect — and lives them
- Is visible, approachable and deeply committed to the community they serve
- Holds QTS and is prepared to act as Designated Safeguarding Lead

Salary: Leadership Pay Scale L7 (£60,145) – L13 (69,596) | Start: September 2026
