Chesterton C of E VA Primary School is seeking an inspiring Headteacher to lead our thriving village school into its next chapter. Working with the Governing Board and Diocesan Authority, you will lead a broad, engaging curriculum, aligned to the Governors’ Vision while supporting our inclusive Christian ethos and our motto, "Building Firm Foundations for Life."
Following 11 years of stable, successful leadership, we are ready to welcome someone who can build on our strong foundations while bringing fresh perspective and ambition. You will oversee a rich extracurricular programme and nurture the traditions that make our school special – from sports and performance to outdoor learning and wider enrichment. Above all, you will ensure every child is supported to achieve high academic standards and to flourish as confident, compassionate individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- School Culture. Build a safe, calm, and inclusive environment that reflects our Christian values and sets high expectations for every child.
- Teaching and Learning. Lead the development of our curriculum. Ensure all teaching is based on strong evidence, with a specific focus on writing and maths.
- Staff Leadership. Manage, support, and develop our staff team. Foster a culture of professional growth while looking after staff wellbeing and keeping workloads manageable – including your own.
- Strategic Operations. Work closely with the 12-member Governing Board to manage the school’s £1m+ budget efficiently, making sure every pound spent benefits the children.
We offer a 'Good' school with great support from parents and staff, an active governing body, and an experienced and capable Senior Leadership Team.
