Job/Person Summary
St Andrew’s C of E Primary School is an inclusive school and we are proud of the ethos and values shared by all staff, children, parents and governors. We are a successful one form entry school in a popular part of the city. The school has a wide-ranging intake, with children from a variety of backgrounds and cultures due to the international nature of nearby hospitals, universities and local businesses.
We are looking to appoint an outstanding class teacher to work in our newly-funded Enhanced Pathway provision, working alongside Reception and Year 1 Class Teachers to provide a stimulating and engaging environment, delivering aspirational teaching to ensure excellent progress against the outcomes for a variety of children in Reception and Year 1 with EHCPs. This post would only suit an ECT if there was proven experience in the Early Years and with SEND.
We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Thorough and creative curriculum planning, considering wider enriching opportunities, to meet EHCP outcomes.
- Strong adaptive teaching, whereby all learners progress and succeed.
- A proven ability to support those on the SEND register, planning to meet their needs and managing support staff effectively.
- Ability to make provision for children for whom English is a second language.
- A positive, restorative approach to the management of behaviour and relationships.
- Effective feedback for learning, underpinning formative and summative assessment.
- Strong interpersonal skills that support effective teamwork with colleagues, governors and parents.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
It would be advantageous if applicants had the following:
- Teaching experience in the Early Years.
- Planning outcomes and delivering teaching using the Oxfordshire Developmental Journal and / or Welcomm activities.
- Experience of working closely and effectively with children with an EHCP, using approaches such as ‘May I Join You’, ‘Bucket time’ and ‘Rhyme time’.
- Experience in organising the relevant documentation for children with EHCPs, alongside a SENDCo.
- Confidence to interact with all stakeholders, especially parents and external professionals.
Safer Recruitment
St Andrew's Church of England Primary School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
