Job Introduction
The Role
A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate SENCo, who is dedicated to making a real difference in children’s lives, to join us at Wychwood CE Primary School, a large rural school set in the heart of the beautiful Wychwood community on the edge of the Cotswolds. We are seeking an inspiring and committed SENCo to help lead our school’s SEND provision for pupils across the school.
We are delighted to have secured funding for an Enhanced Pathway from September 2025 which will be based in a newly refurbished classroom, designed to meet the needs of the pupils who will be based there. As SENCo, you will play a central role in the implementation of this new, exciting chapter in Wychwood’s story. If you would love to lead and inspire our staff and children and further develop innovative ways to meet the needs of our young learners, some of whom have complex needs, we’d love to hear from you.
Why Wychwood?
We offer a warm and welcoming environment with a dedicated staff team who are supportive of one another. There is a clear vision for school development to improve outcomes for all pupils. Ofsted (October 2024) described Wychwood as having a ‘close and caring ethos in which everyone is welcomed.’
Our commitment to a lifelong love of learning extends to our staff as well as our pupils, as described here by Ofsted: ‘Staff are wholeheartedly positive about their work at the school. They feel well-supported by leaders, valuing their training and professional development. The school proactively supports staff well-being and helps them to maintain a healthy work-life balance.’
We can offer:
- Flexible working – the role will include half a day’s teaching in our Enhanced Pathway and the remaining hours can be scheduled across the week to suit the successful candidate
- the opportunity to lead with confidence, shaping provision and ensuring that every child’s needs are met with care, skill, and compassion
- a supportive leadership team, committed to your success and wellbeing as a leader in the school
- parents and children who value our school and the staff within it
- governors and school leaders who are committed to ensuring that teaching staff have the space to be creative and opportunities to take risks
- excellent facilities and grounds which include a dedicated SEN classroom with an Enhanced Pathway, an outdoor swimming pool, Forest School area and astro pitch
Visits are warmly welcomed. Our Headteacher, Katy Gent, will be happy to show you around. Please contact the school on 01993 830059
