Teaching Assistant

Job Introduction


Our small community school are looking for a teaching assistant to work across our school to support learning. This may include working with groups of children as well as 1:1 but also supporting whole class teaching. Break and lunch time duties will also be included during working hours.  

 

We are a vibrant and forward-thinking school who believe in developing individuality, resilience, empathy and a love of learning for every child.  

 

A successful candidate needs to be enthusiastic, patient and a flexible thinker. The ability to engage children in an imaginative way would be an asset in this role. 

 

The hours of work are flexible and would be agreed during the interview process. This is currently a temporary post until July 2026, however there may be scope to continue beyond this date for successful candidates.

South Stoke Primary School believes that it is always unacceptable for a child to experience abuse of any kind. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children. We will provide staff and volunteers with guidance to follow when they suspect a child may be experiencing abuse or may be at risk of harm. We will work cooperatively with other agencies to safeguarding and promote the welfare of children. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) as well as have online checks and references.  

 

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Nicola Townsend (Acting Head Teacher) and the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) is Claire Wadsworth (Key Stage 1 teacher). The governor for safeguarding is Ivo Lasan.
