Contract/Hours:  37hrs a week, 48 weeks a year to cover maternity leave 7.45am-5.45pm 4 days per week

Position Early Years Practitioner level 2

Salary: Grade 4  Salary Scale: £25,185- £25584

The Slade Day Nursery is seeking to recruit an early year's practitioner to cover Maternity leave for 1 year with a view to longer term employment if suitable.

We are looking to employ someone from May onwards with a view to providing on job training to prepare for this role.

The Slade Day Nursery is a warm, child-centred environment and we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and committed to early year’s practitioner to work as part of an experienced team to support children of mixed ages. 

Applicants will participate in providing a stimulating and nurturing environment that supports children to thrive. The nursery operates a key person approach, which develops quality relationships between staff, children and families. 

The Day Nursery and Nursery school are co-located within a primary school in a purpose built building, offering wonderful opportunities for integrated community working.

The school serves a diverse local community and works closely in partnership with parents.

Job Purpose: 

  • To respond to the individual needs of children 
  • To participate in providing a stimulating and caring environment in which children’s developmental and welfare needs are met. 
  • To provide good quality inclusive care, education and play opportunities for children Birth – 7 years, by supporting a team of childcare staff. 
  • To contribute to the development of Integrated Centre as a pioneering model of good practice. 

 Key Tasks: 

  1. To promote the integrated nursery vision and values throughout the provision and practice. 
  2. To contribute to a programme of care, education and play opportunities within the Day Nursery environment for children 2- 4 years which fosters children’s growth, self-esteem and independence. 
  3. To be involved in the implementation of relevant whole Centre policies.   
  4. To work closely with the school team, and local schools to ensure consistency and continuity of care and education and play opportunities for the child 
  5. To observe and record individual children’s development. 
  6. To communicate effectively with parents and carers of the children in the Day Nursery. 
  7. To promote equality of opportunity and inclusive practice. 
  8. To attend team meetings as required. 
  9. To always ensure compliance with OFSTED Full Day Care Standards. 
  10. To be aware of child protection policy and procedures. 
  11. To respect the confidentially of information received. 
  12. To have a commitment to personal and professional development. 
  13. To prepare for and receive supervision. 
  14. To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Nursery School.
