Class Teacher

Job Introduction

West Oxford Community Primary School is seeking to appoint an excellent full-time teacher to join our thriving and welcoming school community.

Set in a beautiful historic building just a short walk from the vibrant heart of Oxford city centre, West Oxford Community Primary offers the very best of both worlds: a close-knit, community-focused school with strong local roots, whilst being part of the rich cultural life of the city.

We are an ambitious, forward-thinking school and are extremely proud of our new enquiry-led curriculum, placing questioning, curiosity and creativity at the heart of everything we do. This is a wonderful opportunity for a teacher who wants to be part of shaping and delivering inspiring learning experiences that engage children deeply and foster a lifelong love of learning.

We welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers and experienced colleagues.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Is committed to excellence and has high expectations for all pupils
  • Is willing to teach in KS2
  • Believes passionately that every child can succeed and achieve their full potential
  • Is excited by enquiry-based learning and values creativity and thoughtful questioning
  • Is committed to working in partnership with parents and the wider community
  • Enjoys being an active and valued member of a collaborative team

In return, we offer:

  • Happy, well-behaved children who enjoy learning and coming to school
  • A friendly, supportive, forward-thinking and dedicated team
  • The opportunity to help shape and embed our new enquiry curriculum
  • A positive working environment with high expectations and strong professional trust
  • Excellent professional development and training opportunities

West Oxford is an equal opportunities employer. Our school offers significant opportunity for teachers who show vision, enthusiasm and a desire to develop, whatever their starting point.

The school is easily accessible, just an 8-minute walk from Oxford train station and a short drive from the A34, making it well placed for those living both within Oxford and in surrounding areas.

You are invited to visit our lovely school prior to an application where you will be warmly welcomed by our Headteacher.
