SEN Teacher

Job Introduction

Due to an increase in student numbers and pupil need, Wantage Primary Academy are looking to recruit an outstanding SEN Teacher to join our amazing team! We are looking for an ambitious, energetic, and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils. The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, ADHD, SEMH and associated needs.

In order to support pupils with these needs, we are expanding our nurture provision, which resembles a Resource Base. We began our journey with this provision in November 2024 with a class of 5 pupils from KS2, working with 1 teacher and 1 SEN TA. We now seek to expand and develop this provision further with a SEN teacher further shaping and leading this provision for up to 7 pupils and 2 SEN TAs.

This is an exciting and fabulous opportunity for an ambitious, enthusiastic and highly skilled teacher who has experience of working with children who have a level of need which is not appropriately met in all day mainstream classes. The successful candidate will plan and deliver high quality teaching and learning in this specialist setting. Under the line management of the SENDCO, the teacher will work in partnership with class teachers, TAs and associated professionals to deliver excellent inclusive teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Teacher (holds QTS) or an experienced SEN Unqualified Teacher.

Wantage Primary Academy opened in September 2020 with just a few small classes and we have now grown to around 300 pupils in a Nursery class, 2 Reception classes, 2 Year 1 classes, 2 Year 2 classes, a Year 3 class, a Year 4 class, 2 small Year 5 classes and a Year 6 class. We will eventually grow to a full, 2-form entry primary school. This is a golden opportunity to plan and implement outstanding provision within a growing team.
