Position Early Year Support Worker Level 3 qualified

Contract/Hours:  37hrs a week, 48 weeks a year to cover maternity leave

Salary: Grade 4 to 5 depending on experience Salary Scale: £25,185- £26,403 (pro rata) 

The Slade Nursery School is seeking to recruit an experienced early year's support worker to cover Maternity leave for 1 year with a view to longer term employment if suitable.

We are looking to employ someone from May onwards with a view to providing on job training to prepare for this role.

The Slade Day Nursery is a warm, child-centred environment and we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and committed to early year’s practitioner to work as part of an experienced team to support children of mixed ages. 

Applicants will participate in providing a stimulating and nurturing environment that supports children to thrive.The nursery operates a key person approach, which develops quality relationships between staff, children and families. 

The Day Nursery and Nursery school are co-located within a primary school in a purpose built building, offering wonderful opportunities for integrated community working.

The school serves a diverse local community and works closely in partnership with parents.

Person Specification – EYSW Grade 4- 5

Education and Training

Essential

  • Good standard of basic written and spoken English
  • Recognised Level 3 qualification or above relevant to early years.  

 

Desirable

  • Training courses in early years, eg. working with parents, behaviour management, first aid, ICT…

 

Relevant Experience

Essential

  • Direct experience of children aged birth to eight years
  • Ability to recognise and respond to children’s needs, interests and development
  • Supporting and extending children’s all round development through a stimulating and challenging environment both inside and out

Desirable

  • Working with children with additional educational needs
  • Interest in babies and under 2’s

 

Knowledge/Aptitudes

Essential

  • Awareness of issues or regulations in early years services, eg. children’s rights or health, safety and hygiene regulations, safeguarding
  • Knowledge of child development 
  • Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Ability to form appropriate relationships and     to communicate with adults and children
  • Ability to work as part of a team 
  • Ability to think about and talk about your work
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development, eg. through training days
  • Commitment to promoting the setting’s vision and values throughout your work
  • Commitment to equal opportunities and provision that responds to each individual child and family
  • Commitment to including children with differing needs in the setting
  • Commitment to working with parents

Desirable

  • To read current articles, books and websites about child development and early years practice
