Job Introduction

St John’s Primary School is a popular and successful, single-form primary school situated in the heart of Wallingford.  The Governors, staff and children of St John’s Primary School are delighted to invite applications from inspirational practitioners with proven leadership skills for the role of Deputy Headteacher. This post will have some teaching commitment and would ideally be from September 2025.  We would consider applications from both full & part-time candidates.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional classroom practitioner with a talent for sharing, modelling and exemplifying effective teaching and learning.  Our staff are positive, professional and enthusiastic and we would welcome a candidate who mirrors these qualities and who contributes to upholding high standards. Our new Deputy Headteacher will play a pivotal role in coaching and mentoring staff, as well as supporting both the strategic and logistical leadership of the school.

  • experience of coaching, mentoring and leading others
  • good behaviour management strategies
  • an innovative approach to problem solving, thinking outside the box to offer creative solutions to challenges and barriers, and
  • a sound knowledge of systems and processes that support improved outcomes for all learners

Salary: Leadership 2-5
