Uffington C of E Primary School - Co-opted Governor
About Uffington C of E Primary School
Uffington C of E Primary School is a small, vibrant village primary school located in the heart of the rural community. We pride ourselves on providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child matters.
As a voluntary controlled Church of England Primary, we are guided by our core values of Love, Respect, and Resilience. We are committed to ensuring the best outcomes for all our pupils and creating a great place for children, staff, and volunteers to flourish.
The Role of a Co-opted Governor
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Governing Body as Co-opted Governors. As a Co-opted Governor, you will contribute to the strategic direction and ongoing improvement of our school, working alongside our team of nine governors from a wide range of backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the school has sound educational and financial performance
- Supporting the professional staff in their work to drive school improvement
- Upholding the school's values and vision of "Everyone Matters"
- Providing an external perspective to enrich the Governing Body's considerations
What We're Looking For:
- A strong commitment to the role and the ongoing development of the school
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- A willingness to learn more about education and develop new skills
Why Join Us?
As a Co-opted Governor at Uffington C of E Primary School, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our pupils and the wider community. You will be part of a friendly and welcoming Governing Body, dedicated to ensuring our school continues to thrive.
How much time would I have to commit?
Governors are expected to attend 6 evening meetings of the FGB each year. These typically last around 2 hours each. Other time commitments will depend on whether you step up to additional roles on the FGB, which could, for example, see you visiting the school on a normal school day to perform monitoring or taking part in subcommittee meetings (5 a year).
This is a voluntary position, but the rewards of contributing to the success of our small, community-focused school are immeasurable.
If you're interested in applying, please complete the Governor Application Form and return it to office@uffingtonprimary.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
For more information or to discuss the role further, please contact our Chair of Governors, Dave Walker, at dave.walker@uffingtonprimary.org.
Safer Recruitment
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
