About RAF Benson Community Primary School

We are looking for a dedicated, proactive, and organised Attendance and Admin Officer to join our school administration team.


Job Overview
 The Attendance and Admin Officer will play a key role in ensuring excellent attendance across the school while providing administrative support to the Headteacher and school staff. You will be responsible for monitoring attendance, maintaining accurate records, and providing a high standard of customer service to parents, staff, and visitors. Additionally, you will be required to assist in a range of general administrative duties to support the smooth running of the school.


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Attendance Management:
    • Record and monitor pupil attendance on a daily basis.
    • Follow up on unexplained absences and liaise with parents to improve attendance.
    • Prepare and issue attendance reports for senior leaders and the governing body.
    • Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to address concerns regarding attendance and punctuality.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Assist with administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and managing school correspondence.
    • Handle phone calls, emails, and in-person enquiries from parents, staff, and visitors in a professional manner.
    • Maintain accurate pupil records on the school’s management information system (currently SIMS).
  • General Office Duties:
    • Support with the preparation and processing of school communications, such as letters and newsletters.
    • Assist with the organisation of school events and trips, including managing permissions and ensuring correct documentation is completed.
    • Provide first-line reception duties, ensuring that visitors follow school protocols and are welcomed appropriately.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a school or office administrative role (desirable).
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook (experience with SIMS is desirable).
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy when recording information.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A friendly, approachable manner and the ability to interact positively with children, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
