Start Date: September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)

St Swithun’s Primary School is seeking to appoint a caring, patient and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for a child in Year 1. This is a temporary position to support the child’s learning, wellbeing and inclusion within the classroom. Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider staff team, the successful candidate will help the child access the curriculum, develop social skills and make progress towards their individual targets.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with primary-aged children.
  • Is nurturing, patient and able to build positive relationships.
  • Can support learning through engaging and creative approaches.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Has an understanding of additional educational needs (desirable but not essential).

Contract Details

This is a temporary, fixed-term position linked to the provision required for an individual child. The post will cease when the provision is no longer required or funding ends.
