Grandpont Nursery School and Childcare are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic & motivational Childcare & Wrap-around Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a happy setting for children under 3. We work within a very strong tradition of excellent early education & care, based on children learning through play & talk. We put the children’s needs at the heart of what we do. We are also passionate about being outside. You will be working with a newly formed, dedicated team in a caring, family friendly environment which is inviting to children, parents & staff. We also welcome interest from deputy managers who are looking for their next step.
The Childcare Manager works closely with the head of the center whilst also being expected to work autonomously in relation to every day management responsibilities. You will be an active member of a strong & supportive Senior Leadership Team. The role requires the confidence to make decisions in the best interests of the setting. You will lead the team to ensure that the training, support, mentoring & supervision of the staff inspires & leads ambitious practice. To create a safe, caring & welcoming setting.
We received an outcome of RI at our last OFSTED inspection & are keen to be inspected again soon as we feel confident that we have greatly improved over the past year. However, this position comes with the added opportunity to quickly make your mark and continue to support us in being OFSTED ready.
*Level 3 early years/childcare qualification
*Knowledge & understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage & requirements of the Ofsted Childcare Register
*Current appropriate first aid certificate or evidence of commitment to achieve this soon after taking up the post
*Food safety/hygiene qualification at Level 2 or above
*Training in safeguarding children at ‘specialist’ level,, or a commitment to complete this within 3 months of recruitment
*Min 2 years supervisory experience in a childcare setting, providing high quality play opportunities that meet children’s developmental needs
*Experience of managing/deputising an inclusive setting as well as managing challenging behaviour with children
*Effective communication skills, with the ability to inform, inspire & motivate children & staff, & provide feedback to school, professionals & parents/carers
*to use own initiative, problem-solve & make efficient use of resources
*Relevant management & organisation skills, including staff supervision, report writing & keeping financial records, using ICT
*Understanding of what constitutes high quality childcare & commitment to provide this
*to ensure that the rights of children & adults are respected & promoted, & that discriminatory attitudes, behaviour or practices are challenged
*to occasionally attend meetings/events outside normal hours of work for this post
*Commitment to the principles of equal opportunities,
