We are looking for a co-opted school governor to join to our governing body, so if you are looking for a new challenge, enjoy working as part of a team and are interested in giving something back to your community, this could be the opportunity for you.

School Governors perform the most important voluntary role in education. A school governing body is made up of representatives from the school, the parents, the local authority and the local community. School governors work with the school leaders to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the school, monitor, and hold leaders to account for its performance and have oversight of the budget. All this is done to ensure that the community we serve is afforded the best educational experience available.

There are no formal qualifications required to be a school governor, however you will need to be willing to dedicate time to carry out monitoring in school as well as read paperwork before meetings and be prepared to challenge the school through questioning. We thrive as a team when we have a variety of professional skills and personal enthusiasm, transferable skills you already hold will be welcomed and celebrated. We support all our governors, throughout your entire term of office, to carry out training which will support you in your roles. As such no previous governance experience is necessary.
