Job/Person Summary

Role of Assistant Principal (Maternity Cover) of CFS

The Governors and Principal are seeking an exceptional leader with the energy and vision to join the Senior Leadership Team of CFS.  This is a full time temporary role, from Easter 2021, however a part time position will be considered for the right candidate.

The Governors and Principal are looking for an outstanding educator with strong leadership skills and experience of being part of a highly successful establishment. The Assistant Principal will be committed to our values and ideals, striving for excellence in both the taught curriculum and co-curricular life of the School. Excellent communication skills, together with an ability to develop effective relationships with all stakeholders are important elements of the role.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Assistant Principal will play an important role in the leadership and management of the all-through school, with particular focus on the Primary phase.

The Assistant Principal will lead, specifically, on Pupil Progress in the Primary phase, driving forward pupil outcomes, assessment, feedback and academic interventions. They will work alongside their counterpart in the Secondary phase and also play a significant role in reviewing and developing the all-through school curriculum to ensure a balance of programmes, subjects and challenge best suited to contemporary learners. At CFS, teaching and learning initiatives and pupil progress go hand in hand.

Alongside their main duty of Primary Data and Pupil Progress, the Assistant Principal will work closely with the SLT in supporting the day to day running of the Primary phase as well as assisting with the development of teaching and learning and further the vision for excellence in our Primary team.

We are looking for a Primary specialist who will bring knowledge and expertise in latest age 4-11 national developments and accountability measures.  However, the successful candidate must also have a willingness to gain understanding, experience and appreciation of Secondary assessment and approaches to enable the School to develop a truly all-through approach.

At CFS we have invested in a state of the art assessment tracking system and the Assistant Principal will have the full support of data admin. Whilst an understanding of Primary data is essential, we are not looking for a data analyst but someone to act on the data, addressing the ‘so what?’ and ‘what next?’, through teaching and learning approaches.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced middle leader or Assistant Head, who is looking for a unique opportunity in a thriving all-through school.

Terms of Employment

CFS follows the national pay scale; this role will receive Leadership Pay Point 3. The post is superannuated through the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

A formal contract will be issued once the successful applicant has been appointed. It will be offered subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and a satisfactory medical report.
