Job/Person Summary

Are you interested in becoming a teacher?  As a School Direct provider, we have the experience and track record of delivering outstanding training for the next generation of successful teachers.

Winchester Teaching School Alliance (WTSA) currently has unsalaried vacancies for both Primary and Secondary trainees.

Working in partnership with the University of Winchester, we work with two of the best secondary and twenty-one primary schools in Hampshire.  You will be training with knowledgeable and enthusiastic teachers who are committed to education and are leaders in their own fields.  If you complete the course successfully, you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

Applicants will need a C grade at GCSE in English and Mathematics or equivalent for secondary positions and also Science for posts in primary schools. Specific equivalency tests will be accepted in lieu of English and Mathematics GCSEs at the discretion of the alliance.

Applicants should be graduates, normally with upper second class degrees or above, although we welcome applicants with lower second class degrees who demonstrate a real aptitude for teaching. For secondary applicants, generally, at least 50 per cent of the degree content should be directly related to the subject to which the application is being made. Free Subject Knowledge Enhancement courses are available for some subjects such as Mathematics and Physics, for those who wish to apply without a closely related degree.

All applications for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) courses are made via the 'Apply' system administered by the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).

You will find these vacancies listed on UCAS under provider code 27L (Winchester Teaching School Alliance).  For 2020/21 our tuition fees will be £9,250 for non-salaried trainees.  Applicants may be eligible for a bursary or scholarship deepening on their degree classification and chosen specialist subject.

Application Procedure

All applications for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) courses are made via the 'Apply' system administered by the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
