“Rowhill is a vibrant and purposeful place to learn. Pupils are smartly presented in their uniform and focused in lessons. Pupils who are highly vulnerable make strong progress in their personal development.” (OFSTED March 2018)
The Management Committee of Rowhill School are seeking to employ an Assistant Headteacher who will lead on our provision for our vulnerable pupils. If you would like to move your career forward in a friendly environment with a high volume of vulnerable pupils and support from an experienced leadership team, in a pupil referral unit, then Rowhill School is the place to realise your career goals.
We are passionate about the outcomes for our vulnerable pupils. We invest in our staff to help them to become the best possible teachers they can be. There are excellent opportunities for people who work hard. Effort is often recognised in career development. Many who came to us as LSAs and NQTs now have teaching or middle leadership roles. Our CPD programme and collegiate approach are highly effective. Staff morale is high and so is that of our pupils and their community.
"Since joining the Rowhill Team in January 2019, I have been able to utilise my skills both from my mainstream experience as well as my involvement with outside agencies. Rowhill consists of a unique set of staff working effectively together to ensure the highest standards are delivered to all our pupils and I have developed so many other skills mainstream could not offer. The senior leadership team have been instrumental in my personal development within my first leadership role and I look forward to continuing the journey". (AHT Quality of Education)
Rowhill School is a short stay provision that works with pupils who are permanently excluded, at risk of permanent exclusion or cannot attend mainstream for medical reasons. We offer a ‘mini mainstream’ model of provision where pupils are provided with rich opportunities within the curriculum to access a mainstream pathway after Rowhill School. We focus on academic subjects as well as personal development, therefore providing cultural capital to all cohorts.
If you are an inspiring, aspirational, enthusiastic and innovative leader who recognises that the best leaders continually strive to improve, we would like to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward thinking school and leadership team. We require an individual who is passionate about inclusive care and has the wellbeing of all pupils at the forefront of their practice.
“The leadership experience that I have gained since joining Rowhill simply could not have been matched anywhere else. Rowhill School supports my belief that every child deserves another chance and our absolute best. Supporting all staff in helping our pupils make progress is a responsibility that I am proud to hold. For anyone who holds the pastoral element of education close to their heart, I would recommend Rowhill School.” (Deputy Headteacher)
The candidate must possess a genuine commitment to making a positive contribution to the life chances of our vulnerable pupils and to our school. We are looking to appoint an ambitious and inspirational senior leader to take on this exciting SLT role. This is a vital role in a school with many pupils with SEMH needs, known for its work with SEND and vulnerable students and it will require an exceptional individual. The successful candidate will be committed to our vision, our values and ethos, and have the interpersonal skills and ability to lead staff and pupils to achieve all they can.
