Job/Person Summary

Samuel Cody School is a special school for students aged from 4 -16 with moderate learning difficulties. Our school is a successful, friendly and forward thinking school where everyone is encouraged to do their best and achieve their full potential, a place where everybody is valued and respected. Our children are a delight to work with and we are now looking for someone who can take the secondary English department to the next level of its development.

We are looking for a skilled SEN English specialist to oversee our KS4 provision and out literacy and phonics programme. In return we can offer an inclusive workplace and a hardworking and dedicated staff team willing to offer support and expertise to develop your own practise

You will be a strong leader and team player with high expectations of students’ achievement and behaviour. You will be committed to improving standards and ensuring all learners achieve their very best and have the skills to create a stimulating and purposeful learning environment.

You will have a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to working in partnership with parents/carers, our Governors, and the local community to secure the best possible learning and teaching for all.

Job Description

Working with the Headteacher, and Governors, you will lead the English department, providing strategies and oversight of this part of our curriculum, thus promoting and developing the quality of provision.

Qualifications/Experience

  1. Degree or Equivalent
  2. Qualified Teacher Status
  3. Evidence of on-going CPD
  4. Experience of leadership
  5. Experience of teaching children with SEND
