Training with the Fareham and Gosport Primary SCITT will give you an outstanding and unique experience of training to teach. As a trainee teacher you will be working alongside an expert class teacher mentor in their class for a whole year - you will become part of a school's team and be 'immersed' in a primary school.
As an accredited provider of Primary initial teacher training, we offer a high quality, school-based route into achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT).
Fareham & and Gosport Primary SCITT is led by expert school leaders and teachers who lead the training days at Fareham & and Gosport Primary SCITT each week - come and learn from those who are leading teaching and learning in their schools on a daily basis.
With an enviable track record of proven excellence in leading teacher training our trainee teachers are in high demand every year as they are well prepared to be 'Early Career Teachers'.
We offer a programme designed to enable trainee teachers to meet the Teachers’ Standards in addition to the academic award, PGCE. The training programme combines school experience with Professional Studies and Subject Knowledge development.
This is a 'tuition fee' training programme where trainee teachers are based in a school but they are not employed by the school. Fees must be paid by the trainee teacher, either through student finance, training bursaries or scholarships. More information about funding can be found on our website.
Trainee teachers are assessed throughout the programme in two ways; through the taught element of the programme leading to a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) and school-based training leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
We believe this blended approach of school-based learning and academic study gives trainee teachers the ‘best of both worlds’; the opportunity to link theory and practice by using what you have learnt on your training days in the classroom over a year, thus developing reflective practitioners.
