We are seeking to appoint a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to become part of a strong team in our small, village Church of England Primary School.
Our vision is that through our core Christian values of love, courage and hope, we will nurture, encourage and challenge each unique child to be kind, be respectful and be the best they can be. Our vision, values and rules underpin the daily life of our school and our recent Ofsted inspection recognised that our values are embedded in every aspect of school life.
Our behaviour policy is rooted in the knowledge that all behaviour is a form of communication. We show unconditional positive regard to every child in our care and implement a restorative approach where children can learn from their mistakes and will always be given a fresh start. We aim for all children to flourish within a safe and purposeful learning environment and keeping children safe underpins everything we do.
We are looking to appoint an LSA to work 1-to-1 with children with complex additional needs, both within and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will:
* be able to support children with social, emotional and communication needs, through a calm and consistent emotion-coaching approach;
* be ready to develop their understanding of specific learning difficulties in order to provide effective 1:1 learning support
* be willing to undertake training to develop their own personal skills;
* be able to work independently under the direction of the class teacher or SENDCo;
* be able to deliver individualised programmes set by external professionals
* understand that learning is a journey not a destination
This rewarding role requires someone who is resilient and empathetic. The successful candidate will become part of a strong and effective LSA team.
The role will be for 16 - 20 hours per week, within school hours, probably spread across 4 or 5 days per week.
Take a look at our website to find out more about us: http://longsutton.hants.sch.uk/ and please come and visit if you can, to see the school in action and find out more about the post. The post is specifically for specialised support for pupils with EHCPs and may end if the pupils leave our school.
Long Sutton Church of England Primary School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
