Hook-with-Warsash is located in the village of Warsash on the south coast of England.  We are a two form entry primary school and currently have 419 children on role.  We are a standalone academy and enjoy the autonomy this status gives us. 

Hook-with-Warsash is a highly successful primary school which is extremely popular within the local area.  Our vision is to prepare children ‘academically, socially and emotionally preparing them for life’s journey’.  We put equal emphasis on all of these areas and ensure we continuously seek to provide our pupils with opportunities to develop into well rounded future adults.

Hook-with-Warsash is a fully inclusive school and we work hard to ensure that each child is respected as a unique individual.  During 2023 we have been inspected both by SIAMS and Ofsted and achieved a good grading in both.  We would encourage all applicants to read these reports.

The role:

Hook-with-Warsash C.E. Academy is seeking to appoint an excellent Assistant Headteacher to join our school team.  This is a unique opportunity where the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher will coach and mentor the successful applicant in all areas of school life, with the intention of providing them with all the skills required to be a successful future school leader.  There will be a bespoke programme of CPD which will complement the training provided by the senior leaders in the school. 

The successful candidate will:

• Be an excellent teacher who fosters a love of learning within their own classroom and knows how to develop this in others;
• Have strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with pupils, parents, staff and the wider community;
• Have the passion and skills to support teacher development and learning so all pupils reach their full potential;
• Support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in the running of the school on a day-to-day basis, including arrangements for behaviour, safeguarding, SEND and vulnerable learners and to take responsibility for key areas of whole school working;
• Be highly motivated and committed to working in partnership with staff, parents and governors in taking the school forward;
• Have a personal commitment for career progression and a strong desire to develop the skills for future promoted posts;
• Manage staff, resources and budgets within the school;
• Communicate the school’s vision compellingly and support the strategic leadership of the school.

The Assistant Headteacher will be non-class based but will also have some timetabled teaching commitment that will be flexible and dependent on the needs of the school.
